The Colonel David Hall Chapter meets on the second Saturday of each month in January, March, April, May, September, October and November. When the group was smaller, meetings were held in the Maull House, a tradition we keep in May and September. Other meetings are held at the Lewes Library or local restaurants. Once the business portion of the meeting is completed, we hear from a guest speaker on topics of interest.
In February, we hold our annual Social, where members are encouraged to bring a guest to enjoy conversation and a meal with fellow daughters. Each May, we organize a wreath-laying ceremony that has become a Lewes tradition. Members, guests, elected officials and representatives from the Children of the American Revolution and the Sons of the American Revolution participate in the moving ceremony.
June marks our annual trip to the Washington Memorial Chapel in Valley Forge Park to participate in Delaware Day services (as seen in the photo on the top right). In July, we serve as docents at one of the houses on the Rehoboth Art League Cottage Tour, supporting their fundraising for Arts Education outreach. December is when we hold an Open House as part of the Lewes Holiday Tour. Members dress in Colonial costumes, conduct tours of the house and serve hot cider.
